Tornado Technologies has designed and tested the Tornado ESD an Knockout Drum Combination to
prevent the flooding of flare stacks and tanks, which costs many dollars to clean up, and may cause environmental mishaps, grass, or crop fires.
This is a dual system: acting as a fluid knockout for the flare stack, and an ESD for the accumulate in the knockout drum. As the fluid
accumulates to a high level, it lifts the float arm on the shut-off valve, which in turn
closes the inlet line to the separator. This insures that in the event of a separator flood,
where the fluids go out the meter run to the knockout drum, it would shut down the inlet
flow from the well head, thus preventing a stack flood. Also, if accumulated fluid builds up in the knockout, it will shut down the inlet valve.
Another feature, if you are using a Tornado Vapor Transfer Pump on your production tanks, is that if the fluid in the tank overflows, the fluid will be pumped
through the transfer pump and over to the ESD drum, where it will also shut down the inlet valve to prevent a tank flood condition.
Our system also gives an indication of fluid levels in the knockout tank, and can operate
a pneumatic switch to control motor valves, ESD valves and signals. The Tornado ESD and Knockout Drum Combination is available in many standard sizes and designs.
